Songs and Composition

Jennie has composed for theatre and multimedia, mixing live instruments and voice with digital samples and synthesised sequences, most notably for Polyglot Puppet Theatre productions of High Rise and Baggy Pants. However, it’s in her songwriting that she excels. Her skills, passion, knowledge of voice, melody and harmony, wit and lyricism have made people laugh and cry, reached thousands, carried deep messages and dancing grooves. She has honed her skills writing songs for:

Bands – Rapunzel Gets Down, Foolish Hearts, Cloudville, The Tea bags and The Hotties

Theatre – There Goes The Neighbourhood, Musical Chairs, Never Trust a Lyrebird, Poets Will Be Prosecuted, Belonging, Routines Ritual Rhythm, Song Nation, Outside In

Choirs – Songs of Peace and Reconciliation: Peace Cannot Be Silent and Let There Be Song  (Commissioned by Brunswick Womens Choir)

Cabaret, Comedy, Interactive Media – Models of Perfection, Lana Caruso and Jennie Tomorrow, Underworld

Activism – Recent songs with a social motivation include Let Me Go Gently (in support of the Dying With Dignity Campaign), Safe (for Reclaim the Night), Where’s the Button (to stop Peter Dutton), Plebiscite- the musical (in support of the marriage equality campaign) and Yes Yes Yes! in support of the Voice to Parliament.

Vocal Arrangement

Jennie arranges pop and rock songs for her own choirs as well as Brunswick Womens Choir. She can take a sign on the wall of a high-rise stairwell and turn it into a beautiful SATB arrangement, Please Consider People

Music Directing

Jennie is highly music-literate and brings out the best in people. She has been conducting for as long as she’s been running choirs and is adept at standing out the front of groups of singers and instrumentalists waving her arms about in meaningful, nuanced ways.
